Admissions Information
Kirk Fenton Church of England Primary School
Starting school is a very important time for you and your child and at Kirk Fenton, we aim to make this a happy experience for everyone.
Children can start school in our Reception class in the September of the academic year in which they will be five years old.
Yorkshire Learning Trust is the admissions authority, and further information can be found at https://www.ylt.org.uk/policies. Applications are processed by North Yorkshire Council.
Applying for a Place
Parents wishing to apply for a place at Kirk Fenton need to complete the North Yorkshire Online admission application which can be found here. https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/education-and-learning/school-admissions.
In Year Admissions
For admission other times of the year or for year groups other than Reception, please contact the school in the first instance. More information can be found at https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/education-and-learning/school-admissions/changing-schools. Sometimes children need to change school at a time other than their normal year of entry which is starting in reception, transferring to a junior school or transferring to secondary school for the very first time. This is called an in-year transfer. An in-year application can be made at any time of the year however, this should only be a maximum of a term in advance of the date you want the school place. North Yorkshire Council start to process applications a maximum of six weeks (30 school days) in advance of your requested start date. Applications received more than a term in advance will be withdrawn and you will be asked to re-apply.

The time in the lead up to starting school is a great opportunity for us to get to know your child and for them to get to know us. They will be invited to spend some informal sessions with their new teacher and other children from the class in the summer term in order to familiarise themselves with the school environment. An information evening for our new Reception class parents is also held in the summer term.
If you need any support in accessing school admissions please contact the school office, who can help guide you through the process.
